Without the latch system, the seat may be more difficult to properly secure and in the event of a vehicle crash, the child may not be adequately protected and is at an increased risk for injury.

Without the latch assembly, these units fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 213, "child restraint systems."
